NATIONAL TRENDS SERVICES

2019 Annual Community Baby Shower:

The event was held on Saturday, September 21 at Booker T. Washington High School sponsored by the Tulsa Health Department and other community organizations. This was an opportunity to educate pregnant women and new mothers about the factors contributing to infant mortality and connect families to local partnering support agencies/women’s health providers. Members volunteered at the gift table and provided donated items.

Volunteers were Links Juanita, Melody, Monique, Regina, Robin and Runako (6).

Program Pearl National Voter Registration Day:

The chair attended the Program Pearl Call and submitted details on the National Voter Registration Day

initiated to the NTS CA Representative Link Ailene Oliver Booker.

Black Lives Matter-Linking Knowledge to Action:

The chapter partnered with Alpha Chi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated to host a Protecting Yourself in the 21st Century

Forum on Saturday, September 21. The objective was to increase knowledge on the new permit-less gun carry law that goes into effect in November which was presented by Senator Kevin Matthews. In

addition, Mike Lowry Vice President of Operations of Signal 88 Security trained the participants on Active Shooter Training.

Links present were Gerri, Joel-lyn, Joyce, Juanita, Marie, Melody, Monique,

Regina, Rhonda, Robin (10) and Alumni members Marilyn and Jewell (2). There were 30 attendees

total.

Anti Human Trafficking Webinar:

Eleanor Payne attended the Anti Human Trafficking Webinar on behalf of the NTS committee.

National Voter Registration Day:

The chapter partnered with Morton Comprehensive Health Services

and facilitated a voter registration day on Tuesday, September 24. This initiative is to make sure everyone has the opportunity to vote. 28 voter registration forms were collected and this included 13 new registered voters, 13 address/contact updates and 2 party changes. In addition, 5 forms were

distributed.

Volunteers were Links Brenda, Eleanor, Marie and Regina along with Connecting Link Marcus (5).
